Full IELTS Academic practice tests
Three complete tests in the same format as the real exam. Each has a 40-question Listening test with audio, a 40-question Reading test with three passages, two Writing tasks and a three-part Speaking test.
For a realistic mock test, do Listening, Reading and Writing in one sitting, in that order, with no breaks, as in the real exam (about 2 hours 40 minutes). Do the Speaking test separately. Listening and Reading are marked automatically, with an estimated band and an explanation for every answer. Writing and Speaking come with checklists based on the band descriptors and band 9 model answers.
How these tests compare with the real exam
- Same format and question types: form and note completion, maps and plans, multiple choice, matching, headings, True/False/Not Given, Yes/No/Not Given, summary and flow-chart completion.
- Same timing: 60 minutes for Reading and 60 minutes for Writing, with timers that submit automatically when time runs out.
- Listening audio uses computer-generated voices with a range of accents. It is clear and natural, but it is not the same as recordings made by actors, and each test's audio is a little shorter than the real one.
- Original material: all passages, recordings and questions were written for BandLift. They are not official IELTS papers, and estimated bands are only a guide. For at least one mock, also use an official Cambridge IELTS Academic test.
